Beth states: "As an artist, I like to bring to life the world around me, whether it be through the visual arts or the written word. My work is a celebration of the world around us, a call to look at things a second way. I filter what I see, leaving it still very recognizable to the viewer, but transcribed. I paint with brush and palette knife, in oils and acrylics. My landscapes are mostly done on site in the local Newbury/Newburyport area. My intent is through the use of color and stroke, to transmit to the viewer my love of nature, the beauty of this area, and the joy that one feels from viewing it. I strive to share the mood, allowing the viewer to embrace the scene, reaching down from the roots of the grass and up through the clouds in the sky. I look for nuances of color and texture that may normally be missed in the every day rush by a scene, and highlight them through stroke of color, or use of palette knife. The versatility of the oil allows me to vary my technique from gentle washes to explosive, thick splashes of paint.""
